I am trying to find a pattern that I can make some custom outfits for my English Mastiff (Bertha "Biker" Dog). She rides with me in her custom painted motorcycle sidecar and does charity events. Check her out on Facebook. Would anybody be able to adapt a pattern for this size of dog?
    Neck – 25"
    Chest – 41.5"
    Length – 23"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you clicked the big green "Open PDF – Download" box. That is an ad that wants to install stuff on your computer. Ignore it. Look below the box to where Mimi has listed her patterns by size. Below the size you want, there is a small text link that states, "download shirt pattern." That's the one you need to click. ^.~

I am trying to do the same as Beverly but for a Australian shepherd…can I just enlarge the size of the pattern?

  • Hi Mimi, I just made a dog shirt using your pattern and it worked! Thank you so much 🙂

What do you think about taking a baby onesie and converting it to a dog outfit? I have made an Atlanta Braves jersey out of a red onesie bought at Goodwill. The dog's name is Glavine after the famous pitcher Tom Glavine.

I bought a pettern for my saint bernard gracie. It is simplicity 3518 with the three sizesl,xl xxl. It worked very well. Also a coat pAttern simplicity 2303. Both patterns seem real generous to size. These may be out of print but try ebay , amazon or simplicity online also carry out of print patterns. Hope this helps. I also use a womens size large t-shirt and add on a ruffles skirt and shorten the shirt and take it in on the under side if you have some previous experience sewing. This is a easy way to make larger dress. You can also print your own iron ons or add emblishments to make them really cute. Good luck to you on your search.

  • I had a little kid's t-shirt with a design on the front that I wanted to use for my boston…I was going to buy a dog shirt and then cut out the design and sew it on…but I was able to use this pattern right around the image and now it's on the back of my doggy shirt. PERFECT!! Thanks so much!

  • Carole says:

Is the seam allowance included? Do you add SA. Anxious to start but don't want it too small.

  • Mimi says:

Carole in these (T-shirt) patterns the seam allowance is not marked (cause I forget it) but yes it is included.

    Thanks for all your comments!!

Just made my puppy a halloween costume out of a child's t-shirt from Goodwill. Thank you for these easy, practical patterns!

  • cheap shirts says:

Even though it's just a T-Shirt, I wasn't sure if it would be comfortable enough to wear casually, which is what I got it for. I also have never used the "RecommendedStore.com" brand before. All I can say is that it's a really nice shirt. The thread is smooth and not itchy or anything like that. Certainly worth the price.

I love your patterns they fit my dogs so well. I'm hoping eventually you add halter dress patterns for regular waist and drop waist with a gathered skirt. Thank you for doing this.

i have seen you and Bertha at different rallies here in the midwest. if you find a pattern that fits a dog with a 20 or 21 inch girth, just take the pattern and increase to image size to 200%, then select "tile" print in your printer properties. it will double the size of your pattern to fit a dog with 40 or 42 in girth. you will need to cut and tape the multiple pages together. i hope this helps

  • Love love love this pattern!
I love all your patterns, they are easy to follow and easy to change for best fitting. Me and my Iggy pup wants to say thanx!

Your time, thoughtfulness to share, the easy to read instructions, your downloads in PDF form… Just so very appreciated and KIND~ so again… thank you. Now all I need to do is "get and then learn" how to use a sewing machine! :/ Sunday is Mother's Day and I best have me one all wrapped up! Lol! I've never asked for a thing in my 26 years of motherhood until now. Soooo…. Ha!

I'm beyond thrilled to find your blog and your patterns. Your sharing of your talents with others is so thoughtful and I can't WAIT to get started! Thank you so much. PS: blue is a very pretty color on Tara!

Thank you so much for making this pattern available! I have a chihuahua X who loves going to off-leash dog parks, but would often get scratches on her belly after running through tall grass. The typical, neoprene vests for hunting dogs don't come small enough for her. Using this pattern, I was able to make a "vest" for her with a ripstop/nylon belly and stretchy knit back.

As others said thanks for these patterns, dog clothes patterns are hard to find, and I do appreciate you sharing your pillowcase dress, my little one will have lots of dresses for the spring and summer. Thanks again and when you get more please post them.

This is a very helpful website. Thank you for sharing those patterns. I’ve been watching youtube videos on how to make dog clothes patterns for several days but still can’t get to make them right. I bought a mini sewing machine coz I want to make my 4 furbabies identical shirts but I can’t even start sewing because I don’t know how to make the patterns. I’m so blessed to stumble upon your site. You’re truly a blessing! Thank you thank you.

Thank you ever so much for the pattern. My dog and I belong to an Alberta dock diving team (X-Treme Airdogs Alberta) and I have been searching for a dog shirt pattern I could adapt into a dive shirt for her. This one will be perfect & im so grateful that you provided it free! Having to keep my costs down is always a big deal ;P
    Kind regards,
    Wendy & Ghia

This past Christmas we adopted “Chara” from the Humane Society in our town. She, a short -haired Redbone Hound mix, needed continued veterinary care for a very large 3″ abcess over her left shoulder. We were happy to adopt and take over responsibility for her continued veterinary care. She is completely healed now, but our Vet told us she will have a 3″ diameter hairless scar on her back unless we choose cosmetic surgery. We feel she’s been through enough already, so we chose not to put her through more surgery. Your T-shirt pattern is just perfect to give her a feminine touch while protecting the scar from future harm. Many thanks, Mimi.

Thank you for your pattern. I have a dachshund whose chest breaks out from the grass. A shirt is the only thing that seems to help him and I’m hoping your shirt will be more comfortable for him than what he’s been wearing. Thanks again and Willis the dachshund says thanks too.

  • desys says:

i love this website! thankyou so much for the free pattern!

  • Neve says:

Thank you! I modified this pattern to make a post-surgery suit so I could take the cone of shame off. Fits great and she seems to like it!
